Find out what you need to know to make your business succeed

Mayor Brown’s Business Builder will take place at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center on February 7 from 11 am-5:30 pm. This is a free event but you must register in advance.
The Business Builder program is “designed to help small businesses gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed”. It especially helps small business owners connect with those who can help them secure financing and credit. Starting a small business can be seen as a very difficult thing; it often seems that you will never be able to secure enough financing to get it off the ground. Thankfully there are many organizations, such as the Small Business Administration, that will help to point you in the right direction. Also, your local Chamber of Commerce offers many resources that will help you start and maintain your business; the money you invest in your membership will be returned to you in knowledge and skills learned.
The event starts off with a “brown bag networking” session so arrange for business card printing in advance so you can have plenty to hand out to the other Jacksonville business leaders and entrepreneurs you will meet.
That will be followed by two “shop talk” presentations presented by Karen Mills of the Small Business Administration and Tom and Sue Bennett of the First Oklahoma Bank. These will be followed by a showcase that will highlight business opportunities available to everyone. The day will end off with the “networking café”.
