Affordable housing development to open in Hollywood

The city of Hollywood is planning to open later this month a new affordable housing development, called the Washington Park Villas, located on Wiley Street in the 5600 block. Area civic leaders and city officials have no doubt been using flyer printing and poster printing to make those in need aware of the availability of this new housing development.

The development, which consists of 28 units in four town house buildings on Wiley Street’s north side and two duplex buildings on the south side, features four units with one bedroom, four units with two bedrooms, and 16 units with three bedrooms. There is also an activity center on the south side of the street.

The Community Enhancement Collaboration will be located in the activity center and will provide food assistance, training on computer technology, and neighborhood programs. Funding for the project, which had a cost of $5.2m, was provided by the city with assistance from county, state, and federal agencies.

The director of Liberia Economic and Social Development, Henry Graham, has said that this project was a direct result of a partnership between his organization, the city, and the community. It will help to boost the morale of the community and enhance its overall value. It will also help to ensure that the residents of the community will be safe and everything will be under control.

Graham added that the community has very much embraced the project, as there is a waiting list of over 300 people. He said that applications will be accepted on a continuing basis.
