Team of Life pitches in to help Florida children

An event held by Team of Life, Inc. this month helped children to return to school with everything they would need for the new school year.

The children of South Florida were able to help themselves to school supplies, including back packs, shoes and clothes. The children even received free haircuts courtesy of local barbers, including the International School of Health, Beauty & Technology, which is located in Fort Lauderdale.

One girl was spotted gazing at the backpacks, all brand new and displayed on a table in front of her. The organizer and founder of the charity, Essie Reed (known as Big Mama), told her to pick the book bag that she wanted. Another boy was having his hair cut by Anthony Bennett, and told Derek Hayward, a 7News reporter, that he had just moved to Broward from Las Vegas and had to start at a new school.

Workshops were organized by the Home Depot, with volunteers helping children to make things using wood. According to Reed, her faith helps her to carry on with her charity work. She also thanked everyone for their support, saying that it would not be possible without this level of help.

The organization aimed to help 2,000 children, and the Broward event was just the first of many. Promotion using flyer printing services will help to inform people in local areas of the organization and the help needed. Posters will also no doubt help to recruit volunteers for the group.
