With Independence Day 2012 only two days away, the Fort Lauderdale area is preparing for activities, concerts, and celebrations to suit all ages.

Starting in Weston, a 5K road-race will begin at 7:00 am, followed by Weston’s traditional hometown parade featuring floats and marching bands at 10:30 am.

Over in Davie, an “old fashioned fourth” will feature antique cars to go with a BBQ and games for kids at the Flamingo Gardens from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Coast 97.3 FM will host a beach party with interactive games and live music on Fort Lauderdale beach. The festivities begin at 11:00 am and culminate with a fireworks display over the water at 9:30 pm.

Fireworks will also be held at the Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale beach at 9:00 pm, with face painting, balloon animals, arts and crafts, and live music getting underway at 4:00 pm. Not to be outdone, Mullins Park in Coral Springs will host food and entertainment beginning at 6:00 pm with a fireworks display at 9:00 pm.

To cap it all off, the popular southern California based ska-punk band, Reel Big Fish, will perform on the Revolution Live main stage in Fort Lauderdale. The show starts at 6:00 pm.

With so much happening, event coordinators are putting the finishing touches on their programs as Fort Lauderdale area print companies work overtime on poster printing to spread the word about all these exciting events.
