Florence coming to Fort Lauderdale this month

September 10, 2012 by

Acclaimed British soul-rock band Florence and the Machine are scheduled to hit the stage at Bank Atlantic Center in the Fort Lauderdale area later this month.

Florence Welch and her band have received heaps of praise over the past three years for powerful music that falls somewhere between the genres of rock, soul, and blues. Welch’s vocal prowess has been compared to the likes of Kate Bush, Bjork, and Etta James, to name a few, and she is considered to be one of the greatest musical talents to have emerged over the last few years.

Songs like ‘Kiss with a Fist’ and ‘Dog Days are Over’ have become hugely popular in the UK, where the band has enjoyed phenomenal success. Although not quite as popular in the US as of yet, Florence and the Machine have steadily picked up steam, performing to much fanfare at the 2010 MTV Music Awards and at Times Square in New York City for the New Year’s Eve 2011-2012 celebration. The band’s two albums, Lungs (2009) and Ceremonials (2011) have received praise from critics around the world and steady sales on iTunes.

The 20,000-seat Bank Atlantic Center is preparing for the rocking sounds of Florence on September 26 as local print companies take care of last minute poster printing and flyer printing. Seats are still available and the band is also scheduled to perform at DeLuna Fest in Pensacola on September 21 and USF Sun Dome in Tampa on September 25.
