This weekend, Doral Mayor Luigi Boria and the city council will host the 2013 Hurrican Safety Fair.
Stressing that it is important that residents take time to prepare before the onset of hurricane season in order to keep their family and property safe, department officials from the city will join with local business and organizations that will be available to provide assistance to residents before, during, and after a hurricane.
Some of the presenters will include representatives from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the Miami Date County Emergency Operations Center, and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. There will also be refreshments, and participants can enter raffles to win hurricane-related prizes during the event.
The fair will be held this Saturday, July 20, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Morgan Levy Park, 5300 North West, 102 Avenue. Admission is free.
Another event that could see a large local gathering this month is the Doral Craft Beer Tasting, which will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 25, at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits, 9721 NW 41st Street, Doral.
Admission is $10 and participants must be age 21 or older. There will be more than 60 craft beers to choose from, including local beers. Participants will receive a souvenir glass to take home. Many wineries and breweries use catalog printing to keep track of their inventory and let visitors know what varieties are available.
