Global solutions sought in technology and nonprofits

The 2013 Social Good Summit will be held at Lab Miami next week.

This event will be led by a group of global and community leaders who will address the question on how to use digital tools to create a brighter future and solve our greatest challenges.

The workshop begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 24, at Lab Miami, 400 NW 26th Street in Miami, just 20 minutes from Doral.

The goal of the event is to empower ordinary people to speak up about creating solutions to global problems.

Also looking to solve local problems are organizers of nonprofits. The first workshop in a series geared to finding new partners and new markets for nonprofits will be held at 8:30 am on Wednesday, September 25, at the Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center located at 6200 San Amaro Drive in Coral Gables.

Guest speakers include Carol Coletta, the vice president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, along with Tatiana Hernandez (the arts program associate for the foundation) and Chris Sopher (journalism program associate).

Participants will learn how to create high impact relationships for their organizations. For more, information call Kristine Singer at (305) 576-5001 ext. 12.

Registration is $25 per workshop or $85 for all four workshops. A certain number of scholarships are also available. Poster printing, especially with the help of a local print company, is an excellent way to notify residents of important upcoming events like this in the community.
