Doral named as a Playful City for the fourth year
October 31, 2013 by Mark
To celebrate being named a Playful City for 2013, the City of Doral is holding a public Play Day this weekend.
The day’s events will include games, arts and crafts activities, musical entertainers, and face painting artists. In past years, the event has featured a mini field day and local sports mascots.
Play Day should be a fun outing for children and their families from all over the area including nearby Hialeah. Local printing companies have probably been helping to advertise the event throughout the community.
Kaboom! has named the City of Doral a Playful City USA for the fourth year in a row. The organization honors cities and town that make play a priority and promote innovative programs to bring play back to children and their families. This year, 217 cities in 43 states have been honored as playful cities (32 of those cities are located in Florida). The winners receive grants to do things such as improve or add new playground facilities to their town and to promote the importance of play to all children. The organization also offer winners’ tips on how to follow through with their honor, including ideas and printed materials on how to market events that they are encouraged to hold for the public.
Play Day is taking place at Doral Meadow Park on November 2 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Admission is free. To learn more about the event, or about Kaboom!, call 305-593-6725.
