The end of this week marks the start of Speedways 2013, an annual event that brings 11 straight days’ worth of stock car racing activity to the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Flyer printing and poster printing were no doubt used to attract the local community, people around the state, and others from outside the state, as the president and CEO of the Hotel and Lodging Association, Bon Davis, has said that hotel reservations have increased over previous years and many hotels and other types of properties have reported that they are nearly sold out.

According to the vice president of marketing with the Speedway, Sean Belgrade, reservations for the camping sites at the six lots of the Speedway have been brisk and there are already 100 RVs set up on some of the sites, even though cars do not appear on the Speedway until Thursday. Belgrade added that ticket sales have also been steady and match those from last year.

One of the new features of Speedways schedule for this year is short-track racing for two days on a 0.4 mile oval. In order to showcase its programs for its Home Tracks, NASCAR has invited K&N Pro-Series and many others in the competition. The racing will not carry with it any points, but will enable the racers to show off their skills.

ARCA practice will mark the start of the event this Thursday, February 14, followed by stock cars taking to the track on Friday. The event officially begins on Saturday.
