Enforcement workers recognized in Davie

It is easy to take the work of law enforcement officials for granted, but there are many groups who are dedicated to thanking those who sacrifice so much for the community. The Davie Police Athletic League and the Davie Police Memorial Foundation are having a couple of events in January to raise funds to support police officers and their families.
A spaghetti dinner will take place at the Bamford Park Multi Purpose Building on January 12, beginning at 5:00 pm. Dinner includes the main course, drinks, and dessert. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children aged six and under. There will also be a silent auction with items likely to be donated by local Davie companies. Organizers are no doubt working with flyer printing services in the vicinity to let the community know about this upcoming event and the worthwhile cause it supports.
The following day, the 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Nova Southeastern University Campus on January 13, beginning at 8:00 am. There will also be a 100-yard dash for kids. Entry fees are $25 for adults and $10 for kids, with the fees also including the spaghetti dinner held the day before. Live bands will be performing at several places along the route, as will the Dophin Cheerleaders. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each category. Individuals and companies are also encouraged to form teams to compete in the run/walk. The top finishing team will have their name printed on a memorial brick at the Broward County Police Memorial.
