Chocolate lovers’ event held in Davie

The first annual Festival of Chocolate was held last month in Davie, Florida at the Nova Southeastern University arena. The college no doubt used flyer printing and poster printing to announce the event to the local community so as to draw as large a crowd as possible.
Chocolate goods were the featured item at the event, which also enabled the purchase of scented goods, crafted items, and alcoholic beverages. Chocolate coins were used to purchase the various items, which residents bought with either cash or credit.
One of the primary attractions of the event was sorting through 25 M&Ms and putting them into color-coordinated containers using chopsticks. 18.89 seconds was the world record time to beat. Another attraction was the Cocoa Couture Fashion Show with designers from the International Academy of Design and Technology located in Orlando who showed off designs with a cocoa theme that also used candy wrappers and other such products as materials.
Dove chocolate products independent line director, Stephanie Weinberger, also had samples of chicken cooked in barbeque sauce made of chocolate. According to Weinberger, despite initial reactions of distaste, those who tried the concoction did enjoy it. There were also demonstrations, chocolate and wine tastings, competitions, and an area for health and spa.
Organizer of the event Aileen Mand said that people in the area are very enthusiastic about the chocolate and the turnout for the event had been so good that it is possible it will return next year.
