Misty May-Treanor retires on top

Former Coral Springs resident Misty May-Treanor made an official announcement of her retirement from beach volleyball in August after another terrific performance this summer alongside Kerri Walsh-Jennings – her team partner.

Misty May-Treanor is no stranger to the winner’s circle. She and her partner won gold in tournaments in 2003, 2005, and 2007, as well as gold medals in Athens and Beijing. She is a poster-child for training, success, and achievement in sport. Poster printing of the highly decorated champion would no doubt be a popular promotional tool for any number of companies, organizations, products and services, as she is a good example of a sportswoman who has enjoyed success throughout her career.

Although she no longer wants to compete, May-Treanor hopes to pursue a career in coaching and running volleyball clinics. She hopes to share her knowledge and experience with up-and-coming athletes, as well as starting a family some day with husband Matt Treanor, who stars for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Looking back, May-Treanor fondly remembers Coral Springs and the perfect beaches of South Florida, most of which have volleyball courts on them. She is not surprised that so many volleyball greats come from the area, since it is so accessible and the climate favors year-round play.

Printing companies could assist with spreading the message that Coral Springs is a hotspot for beach volleyball by designing maps and flyer printing to identify the location of facilities, competitions, and training centers throughout the town and surrounding areas in Southern Florida.
