Coral Springs to celebrate peace this September
August 26, 2013 by Mark
September 21 is International Day of Peace on which cities throughout the world celebrate the day by holding festivals, concerts, and community observances. This year, the City of Coral Springs will be getting itself in the fray with a weekend of events. The UN established International Day of Peace in 1981 to promote peaceful coexistence between countries.
The weekend will start off with a ceremony in the Coral Springs Center for the Arts’ Peace Garden. It will feature musical entertainment, art displays and the Pinwheels for Peace will be planted. Guests will also have the chance to view the copper Peace Pole which was placed in the garden with the assistance of the Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee, the Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association and One Planet United, Inc. All guests are then welcome to enjoy breakfast.
The next day will feature a celebration presented by the Multi-Cultural Committee and One Planet United. Guests will enjoy performances such as storytelling, music, poetry and dance.
Coral Springs printing companies will no doubt be helping to publicize the International Weekend of Peace events throughout the area.
The International Weekend of Peace will take place from September 20-21. The ceremony at the Peace Garden will be held from 7:45 am – 9:00 am on the 20th. International Day of Peace celebrations will take place at the Northwest Regional Library in the Multi-Purpose Community Room from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on September 21.
