Coral Springs gets ready for its annual holiday parade

November 24, 2016 by

Even though our calendars say it is only November, now is the time to get ready for the city’s Light Up the Night Holiday Parade 2016. Volunteers, participants, vendors and sponsors need to apply soon.

Volunteers who will be managing the crowds must be either adults or high school students who are at least 14 years old. Training will be provided the day before the event and locations will be handed out after signup.

All parade entries must adhere to this year’s theme ‘Light up the Night’. To be considered for an award lights must be used to decorate the entr, or used as a design or patterned effect. Walking units can use lights in their uniforms or costumes, or entire structures can be made out of lights. Awards will be given in three categories – floats, businesses, and nonprofits – with three awards given out in each category. Judging will be done by a panel that will be considering creativity, use of lights, originality, construction, and theme. Santa Claus will be in the last unit.

The parade committee must preapprove any handouts, such as flyers, brochures, or pamphlets.

The parade will be December 14 and will start at 7:00 pm. The route will go along Sample Road, beginning at Coral Springs Drive and heading east to City Hall.
