Ride4James cycling event held in Coral Gables

The parents of 11-month-old James Scichilone have recently organized a cycling event which was held in Coral Gables at the Biltmore Hotel.

Ride4James was held so that Mackenzie and Michael Scichilone could raise funds for Miami Children’s Hospital, which is a non-profit hospital, as a way to say thank you for the dedication and care they have given to young James.

Michael is a service provider and seller of fitness equipment, so he enlisted the help of his business colleagues to secure 150 of the latest Star Trac Spinner bikes for the fundraiser. Scott Schlesinger and Josh Taylor are International Spinning Master Instructors who turned the event into much more than just spinning. According to Taylor, he organizes audio and visual based Spinning to engage participants.

During the spinning sessions, the story of James was incorporated so that the event had real meaning. The proceeds were donated to the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit at the hospital and will be used to pay for equipment, research and other programs. Dr. Robert Hannan, pediatric cardiovascular surgeon at the hospital, says that it provides one of the best programs for open heart surgery in the location, which is why Mr. and Mrs. Scichilone drive past other programs to the hospital.

Fundraising events usually have to be well publicized, and the most effective method is flyer printing so that information can easily be distributed at a low cost. The hospital has almost 400,000 visitors every year, most of whom receive Medicaid.
