Coral Gables designer makes dream come true

Rene Ruiz, a fashion designer from Coral Gables, will make a young girl’s dream come true in January next year – specifically a 10-year-old who is set to become a model for the day.
Briana Vega is fighting cancer, and undergoing treatment including chemotherapy. Following an appearance at the Diamond Ball for the Miami’s Children’s Hospital, the fashion designer decided to try and give the young girl something special in her life.
Briana was diagnosed with leukemia earlier in the year and has been dealing with chemotherapy and various treatments in her battle against cancer. She says that all the things she used to moan about seem insignificant now that she is dealing with the disease.
She appeared as a speaker at the Diamond Ball, where she met Ruiz. Following her speech, the designer decided to help her become a model for the day. Briana will choose fabric for her dress with help from Ruiz, who will make her the dress of her dreams.
Joyce Andrews, mother of Briana, speaks of her gratitude to everyone who has provided opportunities for her daughter, giving her a light to focus on at such a dark time in her life. Briana will walk the runway at the gala fashion show for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of South Florida. Local printing services will be required to promote the fashion gala event, hopefully with Briana featuring as the star model. Briana stresses that although she is going through something bad, she has had some good experiences from it.
