Small business to be honored in Brandon
September 21, 2013 by Sarah
October is a month during which many communities in the United States present small business awards, during Small Business Week in particular, and the city of Brandon will be holding its annual Small Business Awards Gala in Tampa in about a month’s time.
The awards gala is hosted by the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce. It will likely include a cocktail reception followed by dinner and the awards presentation. There are five categories for which awards are given (1-5 employees, 6-15 employees, 16 and more employees, home based businesses, and minority and women-owned businesses) and there will be three winners in each.
Nominations for this year’s awards were accepted from the public, local business peers, or the company itself. After the June deadline for nominations, the finalists were then chosen by representatives of the Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE) and the Small Business Information Center of Hillsborough County, which also selected the winners after interviewing them and visiting the business.
The event will no doubt be an excellent networking opportunity for Brandon business leaders. Many will likely invest in business card printing from local print companies to ensure they have enough traditional and digital business cards to exchange with their business peers.
The Small Business Awards Gala will take place at the Sheraton Tampa East Hotel on October 17 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Tickets are $35 each. Those who require more information about the day can contact Suzanne Dowdy at 813-689-1221 x8836.
