Troy University’s Davis Theatre announces a stellar line-up

Troy University’s Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, located in Montgomery, Alabama, has consistently offered an eclectic mix of entertainment in its grand 82-year-old performance space and the 2012-2013 season looks to be among the best yet.

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will kick off the new season with its classical music performance of ‘Alabama: Here We Stay’ on September 19 at 7:00 pm. Exemplifying the artistic diversity for which the Theater has become famous, the popular 1980s soft rock band Air Supply will perform on October 9 at 7:00 pm.

On December 1, at 7:00 pm, the virtuosos of The Empire Brass will back Elisabeth Von Trapp of the legendary Von Trapp family who inspired the film, ‘The Sound of Music’, in a pre-holidays performance called ‘The Sound of Christmas’.

As we go into 2013, The New Shanghai Circus will spin, flip, and leap into town on February 9 at 7:00 pm with its signature blend of breathtaking Chinese acrobatics and traditional costumes. On the evening of March 8, the Rankin Brothers will perform their award-winning blend of comedy and music that tips its hat to 1960s and 1970s musical icons like Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond.

May 2 will see the ever-popular Adams Family l re-emerge in a new musical comedy and Davis’ 2012-2013 series will go out with a bang on May 25 with the smash hit musical ‘Dreamgirls’.
