The Montgomery County Health Department are presenting the seminar “Holistic approach to worksite wellness” on June 28 from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. This seminar is free of charge to attend.

Those who attend the seminar will learn what workplace wellness is, learn the foundations of a good worksite wellness program, discuss what to do to strengthen an already existing wellness program, hear examples of successful programs, and learn the benefits of making a company smoke free. Specific topics covered by the Health Department at the seminar will include “Promoting wellness through physical activity,” “Pharmacy perspective on worksite wellness,” and “Best programs, best practices, and challenges to worksite wellness.”

Many companies offer wellness programs to their employees, the likes of which can include an onsite athletic center and instructional classes on topics such as yoga, tai chi, and stress reduction. It is in the best interest of a company for their employees to be fit and healthy, since healthier workers miss fewer days of work, will be able to work harder, and are more motivated to succeed.

In addition to a specific wellness program, a company can offer incentives to their employees who take part in activities that will increase their fitness level, such as a walking contest. The person who walks the most during a one-month period could be presented with a prize, such as a paid day off work or a certificate of accomplishment. Montgomery printing companies can help by providing the company with certificates suitable for framing.
