Alabaster Christmas parade returns to U.S. 31
December 1, 2012 by Mark
Christmas Wonderland on Main Street will be the theme for this year’s Christmas parade, which will be taking place today on U.S. 31 for the first time in two years.
Since 2010, the yearly parade has been held at the Colonial Promenade shopping center, but officials of Alabaster failed to reach an agreement with the property manager there, so the Christmas Parade will return to U.S. 31 for 2012.
The Christmas parade will follow the traditional route through the city of Alabaster, Alabama. Alabaster Beautification Board sponsors the parade and, prior to the event, over 75 groups and floats will congregate at the Northern side of the city for the businesses. Spectators will be able to view the parade from the west of U.S. 31, while the northbound area will stay open for traffic while the parade is taking place. U.S. 31 gives more staging room for those taking part in the parade which is one of the reasons it was chosen as the host of the parade.
Although some businesses may be affected by the Christmas parade, officials of Alabaster are encouraging those attending to give their support to businesses on the route. The Christmas parade will take place today, December 1. Although the event is sure to be popular with Alabaster residents and visitors, the local banner printing services of printers in the area may have been used to promote the parade, which will make its way to Alabaster City Hall before turning onto First Street Southwest and terminating.
