February 12, 2014 by Max
The city of Riverside, in conjunction with several community centers throughout the city, will be hosting ‘Sweets and Treats Valentine’s Day Events’ this month. The events are meant to help young people celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Six communities are participating, with each hosting a separate event at a park in their local community. Five of the six will be held after school hours (from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm) while the sixth will be an all day camp.
The after-hours events will have music and refreshments, games, and arts and crafts. The all-day camp (for kids 5 through 12) will run from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and will include Valentine’s Day-themed craft making, games, and various other kid-friendly activities. All of the events will have community center staff and volunteers present to supervise the activities. Parents may wish to have banner printing done to make the event more festive.
The five after-hours events will be held at Bryant Park Arlanza Community Center, Hunt Park Renck Community Center, La Sierra Community Center, Nichols Joyce Jackson Community Center, and Orange Terrace Community Center. Each costs $2 per child to attend.
The all-day event will take place at Bobby Bonds Park located at 2060 University Avenue and Orange Terrace Community Center located at 20010 Orange Terrace Parkway. The cost varies depending on family budget constraints.
