Oklahoma not dodging homelessness issue
August 6, 2013 by Mark
Dodge for a Cause is a dodgeball tournament with a fundraising motive. Funds from it will benefit the programs of Upward Transitions, a non-profit organization. Taking place later this month, this is an all-day event geared towards the kids, although other can have fun there too.
Upward OKC, which no doubt has promotion poster and flyer printing underway, is inviting everyone to put their game face on and come down and compete in this tournament using their best dodging, diving, and ducking skills. This is a team sport with six members per team, with all members being over the age of 18. Valid ID will be required during the reservation period. All registered team members will then receive an event T-shirt.
Upward Transitions is raising funds to prevent homelessness through utility and rent assistance, and aids families in need with relocation and emergency services. Upward OKC, around for 88 years, consists of a team of young professionals that works hard to support families in this community and the area, and assists families with keeping food on the table and much more.
The cost to register a team is $210 at the door or online. Dodge for a Cause will be held on Saturday, August 24, starting at 1:00 pm at the Downtown YMCA located at 1 NW 4th Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To learn more about this tournament, or to register a team, please visit Upward Transitions website or call the office at 405-232-5507.
