Have a weekend with wagons

This weekend, May 26 – 27, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum will be hosting their annual Chuck Wagon Gathering and Children’s Cowboy Festival at 1700 NE 63rd Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This event will take place from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Guests at this festival will enjoy live family fun in the form of stage entertainment, with an Old West show which is acted out to western music by acclaimed artists. There will be the Food Network’s “Top Five Summer Sensations” program, as this festival is renowned for its delicious varieties of mouth-watering foods. Authentic crews of chuck wagon cowboys will prepare the traditional favorites such as beans and cobbler, stew and biscuits, and others. Guests will enjoy weaving and rope-making demonstrations, chuck wagon and stagecoach rides, pony rides, leather crafting, and paper fan decorating.

Visitors can also stop by the storyteller’s tent and enjoy a cowboy yarn or have their picture taken with a longhorn steer. They can make their way to the museum complex to enjoy the displays. Many hands-on activities are available for the children throughout this festival, including the chance to have a go at mounting a saddle . Guest are welcome to wear their western attire and come on down for some fun. This festival regularly draws more than 7,000 people.
