BBQ battle fires up in June

Now entering its 21st year, the Safeway National Capital Barbecue Battle and will next month in Historic Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, District of Columbia. This is the National Barbecue Championship of America and is one of the most popular summer events in the region.

Guests can expect crowds numbering in their tens of thousands to watch enthusiastic teams of ‘BBQers’ compete for the coveted title of ‘National Pork Barbecue Champion’, with teams traveling the length and breadth of the country for the title plus a share in the $40,000 cash prize.
This annual event celebrates the humble barbecue in all its glory, as well as the community spirit and good old-fashioned family fun.

Local printing companies can provide many of the printing materials needed to manage the event. Competitors will need banners to highlight their brand, company name, or business information – making banner printing a common request.

There are lots of attractions and demonstrations to see, including everything from cooking shows and celebrity chefs to live music and talent shows with the added opportunity of picking up a few BBQ tips from the experts. There are many more contests at this battle of the barbecues including a Sizzling Chicken Contest, Australian Lamb Contest, Tender Beef, and Meaty Ribs – there is even a competition to find the best BBQ sauce in the country.

This fun-filled festival for all the family is certainly shaping up to be one not to be missed, and will take place June 22 – 23. The event will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and has raised over $1.3m dollars for various beneficiaries.
