Back to School event coming soon to Fort Belvoir

The USA-Metro annual Operation Back to School event will soon take place in Fort Belvoir, about 45 minutes outside of Washington D.C. The program is designed to be a day of fun for military children ages 5-12, presenting opportunities to meet new friends and feel comfortable about going to school. It also helps parents with the costs of school supplies, which at times can be a financial burden on limited budgets, particularly in families with more than one child.

Each child will receive a backpack loaded with new supplies for school. Activities pertaining to math, science, reading, history, and art will take place throughout the day, and will provide a fun learning environment.

Sponsors include Google, DynCorp, EMC, Emergent BioSolutions, and Raytheon. The event will be held in two locations, USO Warrior and Family Center and Fort Meade USO Center. The event will begin in both locations at 10:00 am and finish at 12:00 pm on August 3.

USO-Metro is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those who serve along with their families in Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland. The organization boasts 5,000 volunteers, which make it possible to provide programs, services, and benefits to the military families.

USO-Metro works to provide services to troops through military hospitals, USO centers and airport lounges, through Mobile USO, and through the Operation USO Care Package.

Local print companies are often involved in providing print services for charitable organizations. Flyer printing creates the materials necessary to promote activities en masse and affordably.
