Summer celebrations aplenty at Fort Adams

A series of summer celebrations will be taking place this summer at Fort Adams in Newport County. The 2013 Sunset Celebration is held on the third Thursday of each month until September and the annual Newport Storm Luau will be held this August.

The Sunset Celebration at Fort Adams is presented by the Newport County Chamber of Commerce and Newport Storm beer. Each week, there will be music courtesy of Rhode Island Songwriters. Guests must bring their own chairs or blankets if they wish to sit comfortably while listening to the music. In addition, there will be arts and crafts vendors, food provided by local restaurants and caterers, guided tours of the Fort, beer, wine, and cocktails and a cannon firing at sunset.

The next Sunset Celebrations event will take place on August 15 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Admission is free. Call 401-619-5801 for further information.

The 15th annual Newport Storm Luau, on the other hand, is a fundraiser for the Fort Adams Trust. It will feature live music, Polynesian dancers, beer, and Hawaiian-inspired foods. Due to the alcohol, this is a 21 and over event.

This happening on August 17 from 4:30 pm – 10:30 pm. Tickets cost $10 if bought in advance or $15 at the door. For more information about the event, call 401-841-0707.

Both events will likely attract visitors from all over the area, including nearby Warwick. Local printing companies will have probably been asked to help provide marketing materials such as flyers and posters.
