Special art night continues into November
October 31, 2013 by Mark
Newport Gallery Night is an event that takes place on the 2nd Thursday of most months in the year. The next one will take place in a couple of weeks.
Various galleries in downtown Newport open their doors to the public; many hold cocktail receptions, meet and greet events with artists, give walking tours, open new exhibits, or provide open studio tours to the public. In order to encourage more people to participate, parking is provided free of charge at the Newport Visitors Information Center and the Newport Art Museum.
In addition, 17 downtown restaurants offer sizable discount during Newport Gallery Nights to help make it a complete night out.
The event is an excellent way for area residents to learn about their local art community and for the artists to make a name for themselves with the public. It no doubt draws more people to the area, which might increase art sales in the participating establishments.
Gallery Night is presented by the Newport Gallery Organization, which consists of 25 member galleries. The organization provides a map and a brochure to make sure people find their way to all of the events. More than likely, these printed materials are provided to the organizers by local brochure printers and are distributed to communities throughout the area, including nearby Warwick.
The next Newport Gallery Night is taking place on November 14 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Admission to 24 galleries and museums is free. To learn more about this recurring event, call 401-848-0550.
