The 1st annual Iona Fest is taking place this September in Providence. The theme is ‘Celebrating the life and legacy of Iona B. Dobbins.’

The festival will be presented by a different arts organization each year and all proceeds will go to that organization. This year, the festival will be presented by the Art League of Rhode Island.

A parade through the streets of Providence will help to kick of Iona Fest. It will begin at the First Baptist Church. More people will join in the parade along the route, which will eventually make its way to the Roots Cultural Center.

The event at the Roots Cultural Center will be a fundraising party for the Art League. It will feature musical entertainment, dancers, live and silent auctions, appetizers and drinks. The IF award will also be given to the person who most exemplifies the love of art for which Iona B. Dobbins was known. Members of the public had the opportunity to vote on the recipient.

Providence printing companies have probably helped the organizers prepare for the festival by providing marketing materials and decoration for the party venue.

Iona Fest will take place in Providence on September 28 from 3:30 pm – 9:00 pm. The party at the Roots Cultural Center runs from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and tickets are $125. Those interested can call 401-861-0500 for more information.
