New art season just weeks away
March 8, 2013 by Sarah
Gallery Night Providence is beginning its new season in a few weeks and is a monthly event in which over 25 art galleries open their doors to the public.
Now in its 17th year, three free art buses will take guests on a tour of all the participating galleries. In addition, there are guided tours by celebrity guides such as Marilyn Salvatore and Dolores Rounak, light snacks, and even the Big Nazo puppets. Also, each gallery also has special activities such as art lessons, live musical performances, movies and artist talks.
This is an excellent opportunity for both the galleries and for the public. The galleries will get people to visit who might not have discovered them on their own, and the public can be introduced to the local art scene. It is very likely that several people taking part in the tour will be interested in buying some of the art they see.
In order to get more people to attend these monthly tours, organizers are no doubt working with Providence printing companies to advertise to the community. This might involve designing and printing flyers to be mailed out to the general public, distributed as inserts in local newspapers, or handed out on the street.
Gallery Night Providence will begin on March 21 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 PM in various art galleries throughout the city. Tickets are free. For more information about the event, please call 401-490-2042.
