Mardi Gras a special oc-Cajun in Providence

Thoughts are now turning towards Mardi Gras, which kicks off the 40-day lent season leading up to Easter celebrations. Communities throughout the United States, including Providence, hold annual celebrations to mark the event, showing that it is not simply confined to New Orleans.

The Cajun and Zydeco Mardi Gras Ball will feature two food-serving stations, cash bars, plenty of activities, and a costume contest. The grand prize for the best costume is $250. Musical entertainment will include Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, Steve Riley and the Mamou Players, and Andre Thierry and Zydeco Magic.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Very Special Arts – an organization that provides art education and participation for the disabled. It should definitely be a fun night out for all and a great way to discover two great musical genres, while also supporting a good cause in the process.

It is more than likely that Providence printing companies will be providing the organizers of the ball with products such as tickets or flyers to help market this upcoming event. Flyers are among the most effective marketing tools since they can be distributed in so many different ways, such as door-to-door or through direct mail.

The 21st Cajun and Zydeco Mardi Gras Ball will take place at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on February 23 from 6:00 pm until midnight. Tickets are $35 in advance, $375 for a table of 10, or $40 at the door. Costumes are optional. For more information call 401-783-3926.
