Several art-related events will take place across various venues in Pawtucket during the 14th annual Pawtucket Arts Festival, which is on its way this September

The festival will start off with the Festival Gala at Slater Mill Grounds on September 7 from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and children aged under 12 are admitted free. Events will include sampling food and desserts from area restaurants and musical entertainment from several zydeco bands.

Other events that will take place over the full 24 days of the festival include the Rhode Island Chinese Dragonboat Races and Taiwan Day Festival on September 8, the Arts Marketplace on September 8 – 9, and the Pawtucket Film Festival from September 28 – 30. Running from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM on September 15 – 16, the Slater Park Fall Festival is yet another attraction and will feature a juried arts and crafts show and sale. Artists can rent up to two 10’ x 10’ booths for $60 each for both days.

There will also be a photo contest which runs concurrently with the Arts Festival. This year’s theme is ‘All in a Days Work’ and 12 photographs will be chosen to be featured in the 2013 Pawtucket city calendar. Prizes are also given out, with the first prize winner bagging $100. No doubt Pawtucket printing companies will be providing the city calendars once the photographs that will be featured are chosen.

In its entirety, the festival runs from September 7 – 30 and looks set to be worth checking out.
