Network with your fellow Rhode Island business leaders

The next Statewide Business-after-Hours event will take place at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston on March 27 from 4:30-7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce members.
This event draws business leaders from all over Rhode Island; over 1000 are expected show up. In addition to the networking opportunity, there will be a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served. If you want to grow your business beyond Pawtucket, this would be a great opportunity to do that. Arrange for a new business card printing order before you go, you want to have lots of cards to hand out to those you meet.
Before you attend any networking event, other than making sure you have enough business cards with you, you should write and practice a 60-second “elevator pitch.” This pitch should include what type of business you have and what services you can provide, as well as a bit about what you can do for others. Of course, you must also listen to the other person’s pitch also. Make sure you listen well and jump on the chance to let them know you can help them grow their own business; after they have finished their pitch of course. Also make sure that you follow up with all those who gave you their business cards; preferably the next day. This helps to remind them what you talked about and shows that you are serious about becoming an asset to their business.
