Social media smartness taught in seminar
September 21, 2012 by Sarah
The Newport Chamber of Commerce is presenting a seminar entitled “Social media total immersion experience: a social media workshop for small business owners” at robinTime later in September.
The workshop will be presented by Robin Gardner of robinTime and Katie Dyer of Cadeaux de Monde. Those who attend will get a total immersion in social media, which will include creating accounts and profiles, connecting those accounts to one another, deciding and writing the first content on those sites, and developing a plan to be able to keep up with those accounts without spending too much time on them. Attendees will also have the opportunity for one-on-one coaching by one or both of the hosts. Those attending should bring their own laptops to the workshop, although there will be some loaner computers available. Lunch will also be served.
Social media is becoming more and more important to business, especially since many people when searching for information on a company will first search for it on Facebook or LinkedIn. It is important, therefore, that any offline efforts are linked to online resources, such as websites and social media account.
This workshop will probably attract interested parties from all over Newport County including nearby Middletown. Once a social media profile is set up, business leaders may opt to work with local printing companies to provide flyer printing services to get the word out to the community.
The date for the workshop is September 28 and it will run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Tickets are $295 but attendance is limited to 12. For more information call 401-925-8591.
