Newport to celebrate in style
November 29, 2012 by Mark
The 36th annual Governor’s Ball will take place in Salve Regina University’s Ochre Court on December 1 from 9:00 pm – 1:00 am, with proceeds going to support the Salve Regina University scholarship program.
There will be a pre-party for Salve Regina alumni and parents in McAuley Hall from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm, featuring appetizers and refreshments. The Ball itself will involve dancing, open bars, and an hors d’oeuvres buffet. Last year, guests were treated to gourmet chocolate and ice cream sundaes. This event attracts some of the most successful and influential people in the Newport area and it is one that many see as a highlight of the holiday season. It should be a very entertaining evening for everyone who attends.
The Ball will no doubt draw people from all over the area, including nearby Middletown. Local printing companies have likely been busy providing tickets and brochure printing services to the organizers. The program booklet received by all attendees is likely to have been produced locally, and will not only give background on the event itself and its reason for being, but it will also allow local companies sponsoring the event to place advertisements. Sponsors are also recognized during the evening, perhaps through the display of banners or signs featuring their company name and logo.
The Governor’s Ball, which has taken place since 1977, has raised over $5m for the scholarship program. Tickets are $150. For more information, or to donate, call 1-877-SRU-GIFT.
