Newport County to enjoy a green-fingered June

Now that winter is officially over, many people are now concentrating on getting their gardens ready for the summer season. A couple of events in Newport County this June will either show how to do it or highlight those who have succeeded.

The Newport Flower Show is taking place over three days in June. The popular event annual will feature gardening demonstrations, exhibits, workshops, lectures, and social events. The opening night party will let guests enjoy a cocktail reception and shopping opportunities.

Immediately after that, Garden Help and Soil Testing at Prescott Farm should be a help to those trying to get their garden ready for the season and to help them understand some techniques behind it. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any questions.

Both of these events will likely attract a number of people from the Middletown area. No doubt organizers will be working with local printing companies to help advertise in the community.

The Newport Flower Show will take place at Rosecliff from June 21 – 23. Tickets are $18 for adults and $6 for children and youth in advance. The opening night party will be held on June 21 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Tickets are $145 for Preservation Society members or $160 for non-members. For more information contact the Preservation Society of Newport County, at 401-847-1000.

Following that, Garden Help and Soil Testing will take place on June 24 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and is free to attend. Call 401-849-7300 for more information.
