The America’s Cup World Series celebration and cocktail party will take place at Fort Adams in Newport on June 8 from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Tickets are $125 and proceeds go towards the upkeep of the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, the tall ship.

The party will be hosted by Governor Lincoln Chaffee, his wife, and the America’s Cup World Series Host Committee. It will take place under a tent which will be set up on the north lawn of Fort Adams and will feature appetizers, cocktails and live musical entertainment.

The America’s Cup World Series, which began in 2011, is a circuit of sailboat races held around the world. The last event of this first season will be held in Newport from June 23 – July 1, drawing sailors and spectators from all over the world.

Being held in the Newport area, it will mean a lot of extra business for stores and businesses in the area, including those in nearby Middletown. Local printing companies can help those businesses prepare for the influx of tourists this event will bring by providing banner printing and flyer printing services. A colorful banner can be hung from a store front welcoming America’s Cup World Series visitors and competitors. A store can create a flyer to be posted around town, offering discounts for those who can show a ticket to any of the World Series events. There are many other ways local businesses can benefit from such events and it is in their best interest to take advantage of them.
