Apples at the core of September fun

August 17, 2013 by

The 26th annual Apple Festival is coming back to Johnston for two days this September. This popular event is a presentation of the North Central Chamber of Commerce.

The festival has lots to offer to visitors, not all of which will be entirely about apples. Needless to say, though, there will be plenty of apple-related items available for purchase and to eat. The event will also feature arts and crafts and commercial vendors, live entertainment, children’s activities such as pony rides, and a variety of foods to purchase and enjoy.

Last year’s Apple Festival featured almost 90 vendors, a classic car show, and an opening parade. There was also an apple pie competition, a cupcake cook-off, and author appearances. Various local bands and community groups also performed throughout the day. Full details for this year’s event have yet to be confirmed, so it may be worth checking local news sources.

Vendors taking part in the festival will no doubt be working with Johnston print companies to prepare their booths. This might include hanging a banner over their table to attract more attention, or investing in flyers to let their current customers know they will be at the festival.

The 26th Apple Festival is free to attend and will take place at Johnston Memorial Park from September 21 to 22 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm each day. For more information about the event, or to become a vendor, contact Kelly Patz of the North Central Chamber of Commerce at 401-349-4674.
