Celebrate the fall harvest in Montgomery County

September 24, 2012 by

Fall is well in swing and a harvest festival will get the ball rolling, with a feast of seasonal activities coming up in the area.

The Fall Harvest on the Farm will take place at the Peter Wentz Farmstead in Worcester on October 13 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. It will feature a tour of the colonial farm and all sorts of fun, like apple pressing and corn shelling. A donation of $2 admission is suggested. For more information, call 610-584-5104

A week later, on October 20, the All Hallows’ Eve Fall Festival will take place at Pennypacker Mills in Schwenksville from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Admission for this is also a recommended $2 donation. Call 610-287-9349 to find out more about this festival, which will feature activities such as hayrides, pumpkin painting, fall crafts, and a bean bag toss. There will also be hand-on activities like corn shucking and apple pressing.

Norristown Farm Park in East Norriton is also having several Halloween-related events in October. On October 23, it will be hosting ‘Skeleton, Skulls and Skins’ beginning at 1:00 pm. Visitors will learn all about skulls and animal skeletons, play a game of matching the skulls to the animal, and take part in skeleton crafts. Admission is $4 for children aged 3 and up. Call 610-270-0215 for more info on this and the Spooky Things kids’ event on October 30.

Families from all over Montgomery County, including nearby Royersford, will be excited to take a quick trip to any of these farms. Local printing companies will no doubt be helping organizers get the word out through flyers and posters.
