Two upcoming Pittsburgh-area events could open doors for local artisans

Spring and summer are a popular time for arts and crafts shows and outdoor festivals, offering a great opportunity for local artists to showcase and sell their original, handmade items to the community. Two such shows are coming up in June in the Pittsburgh area.

The Father’s Day Art, Craft and Lifestyle Show is taking place in Pittsburgh over four days this June. The show, presented by Huff’s Promotions, will feature arts and crafts vendors as well as direct sales vendors such as Avon and Pampered Chef.

Representing a good chance for artists and crafters to make their names known in the community and to possibly forge new business relationships, vendors can rent space for $195 for a 10×10 for the four days or $180 for Saturday and Sunday.

The Community Festival is taking place later in June in Penn Hills. It will feature 20 arts and crafts vendors, information booths from community organizations, children’s activities, and musical entertainment.

Artisans will likely travel from across the local area, no doubt including Plum, to play a part in these shows. Local print companies can help them prepare by helping the design and print promotional items such as posters and postcards to hand out at these festivals.

The Art, Craft and Lifestyle Show will take place at the Mall at Robinson from June 13-16. For more information contact Kelly Locker at 330-493-4130.

The Community Festival, meanwhile, will be held at the 3 Lakes Golf Course on June 23 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Call Sandy at 412-793-7111 for more information.
