A fun First Night to be spent in Pittsburgh
December 28, 2012 by Mark
New Year’s Eve is, for many, the social event of the season. While some consider it only for adults there are more and more events every year in which the whole family can participate – nowhere more so than in Pittsburgh.
First Night 2013 Pittsburgh will take place across various venues in the Cultural District of the city. Some of the activities taking place will be magic acts, musical performances from bands such as House of Soul and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, dance performances, balloon animals, dance lessons, caricature artists, art displays, artwork for sale, the Decoration Station, and ice sculptures. There will be a total of 100 events and activities taking place during First Night. The evening will end up with the Future of Pittsburgh Grand Finale and fireworks.
First Night will no doubt attract people from all over the area, including nearby Plum. Organizers are likely to have worked with local printing companies to produce advertising materials which were distributed throughout the Pittsburgh area.
First Night 2013 is presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. It will take place on December 31 from 6:00 pm – 12:00 am. Buttons, which will get people into the various events, are $8 in advance or $10 on the day of the event. For more information, call 412-456-6666 or visit the event’s website, which has a full list of all the happenings that can be enjoyed on the night. There may also be volunteering opportunities still available.
