Pittsburgh bookworms to have plenty to feast on

November 7, 2012 by

Getting December off to a discerning start, the 11th annual ‘Books in the ‘Burgh’ book fair will take place at the Senator John Heinz History Center. There will be over 60 authors making appearances, several of whom will be giving talks and no doubt reading from some of their works. There will also be the opportunity to meet the authors and have books signed by them.

Books of all subjects will also be available for purchase, with many of them related to the current football exhibit, ‘Gridiron Glory’, which is showing at the History Center until January 6, 2013. The day will also feature live entertainment and refreshments. With the gift shop open as well, people will be offer some Christmas ideas, such as jewelry and toys.

It is more than likely that Pittsburgh printing companies have helped to design and create the poster being used to advertise Books in the ‘Burgh. Posters are a great way to advertise any event and many people like to collect them. They can be displayed throughout the city and in public buildings, such as public libraries, community centers, and city book stores. The current poster for this event is a dramatic color with a sprinkling of snowflakes and the city of Pittsburgh is displayed in silhouette.

Literature-lovers should keep December 1 free, from 10:00 am – 3:00 am, to enjoy the event. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $10 for children. For more information contact Sarah Rooney, at 412-454-6373.
