Local conference showcases women in engineering

January 31, 2017 by

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) local conference is taking place in Pittsburgh next month for three days.

The conference is set to feature workshops and educational sessions. The keynote speakers will be Maria Bezaitis, Dr. Elayne Arrington, and Barbara Vankirk. Some of the educational sessions will be on topics such as entrepreneurship, K-12 outreach, and strategic leadership. There will also be plenary panels, lightning talk sessions, and a State of the SWE presentation. Attendees will also learn more about the Designlab Middle School program.

Other activities taking place over the three days include local tours, a career fair, and a display of the finalists of a collegiate poster competition. There are also planned to be several lunches, networking receptions and the SWE Achieve Awards dinner, which will be handing out awards in over 17 categories.

This event is an excellent opportunity for women in the engineering industry to network with their Pittsburgh-area peers and to exchange information about their jobs or their interests. There will be plenty of chances to briefly talk about business and to hand out their custom business cards.

The Society of Women Engineers conference will be held at the Omni William Penn Hotel from February 16 to 18. For more information about the conference, or to find out the cost of registration, call 1-877-793-4636.
