Independents Week is a presentation of the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce. It will take place at the end of the month and will feature shopping, outdoor music and movies, food, and arts.

The Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition is one of the first events that will be taking place during the week. It has professional, amateur, and kids divisions. Also, on the first day, the Jam on Walnut will feature Dancing Queen and Kelsey Friday.

The ‘I Made It!’ Market will take place on the second day of the week. It will feature independent makers selling their wares on Ellsworth Avenue, Walnut Street, and South Highland Avenue.

Other events during the week will include the Charity Burger Off between area restaurants, during which visitors will vote for the best burger in Shadyside. The Family Fun Night will also be on offer, featuring face painting, balloons, food trucks and an outdoor showing of E.T. Throughout the week, area store will be offering special sales and deals.

Pittsburgh printing companies are no doubt helping the organizers of Independents Week prepare by providing products such as signs and banners.

Independents Week will take place in the Shadyside area from June 29 – July 3. The event has its own website and Facebook page on which the full breakdown of events and their respective times can be viewed and potential attendees can pick and choose the events of their choice to pay a visit to.
