Help at hand for local disabled veterans

The Community Justice Center is hosting its 4th annual UnWined event in Newtown in about 10 days’ time.

The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, guest speakers, an open bar and musical performances from Tom Glover and Alex Radus. In addition, there will be a competitive wine-tasting contest taking place during the afternoon, for which the winner will receive a foursome of golf at TPC Jasna Polana in Princeton, N.J.

It will also be a good opportunity for local business leaders and those who support the center to network with one another. With that in mind, many of the attending guests will likely be tucking a few digital business cards in their jackets or purses to make it easy to exchange them with those they meet.

The Community Justice Center provides legal services to disabled veterans and the homeless; especially those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. One specific program is the Veterans Assistance Project, which helps to advocate for the veterans in dealing with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration. The organization also helps people apply for and obtain needed disability benefits.

With guests likely to come from nearby areas such as Morrisville, local printing companies have no doubt helped to design and print the event invitation.

UnWined will take place at the Rose Bank Winery on September 8 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Tickets are $100 or $50 for Community Justice Center family and volunteers. To find out more about this fundraiser, call 609-218-5120.
