Media families readying for New Year’s Eve parties

Local families can ring in the New Year at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia again this year. The museum will be offering holiday festivities and food, along with fireworks, early in the evening.

Families will be able to view fireworks displayed over the Delaware River at 6:00 pm. Sparkling cider, noisemakers, and festive hats will be on hand to help revelers welcome in the New Year. Popcorn will also be served. Family memories can be preserved by taking photos for future stationery or postcard printing. The event will cost the normal museum entrance fee and will be held December 31 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

For those party animals who would rather not bring the little ones along while celebrating, the museum will also host an adult event a few hours later with its Vintage New Year’s Eve Party. Hat Covet and Uber are sponsoring the vintage-themed event and ask party-goers to dress accordingly – any era will do. The best hat of the night will win prizes from Hat Covet. Champagne will flow at midnight and will be followed by fireworks over the Delaware River.

The Sermon, a jazz, funk, and classic soul group will be presenting 1960s and 70s music during the first couple of hours. DJ Adrian Hardy will then take over till the party ends.

The festivities start at 10:00 pm on December 31 and run until 2:00 am at the Independence Seaport Museum, 211 S Christopher Columbus Blvd. Tickets are $100 per person.
