Enjoy some American roots music in Media

March 30, 2012 by

The Americana Roots Ramble will take place on State Street in Media on April 21 from 7:30pm-1am. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 on the day of the event. Sixteen venues located on State Street will be presenting all-ages musical entertainment; some will be available to watch over dinner at great local restaurants such as Margaret Kuo’s and Lotus.

The event is a presentation of the Media Business Authority. It began in 2003 and features musical genres such as early Rock and Roll, Rockabilly, Classic Rhythm and Blues, Bluegrass, and Zydeco. Local radio station WXPN 88.5 FM has placed its full support behind the event and is promoting this year’s Roots Ramble as one of its top events. This year the featured acts will include Charlie Grace, The Dollar Band, Sonoma Sound, Frog Holler, the Ragamuffins, and a “Media local showcase”. Local printing companies have most likely been working with the organizers of the event to produce the event poster and the necessary tickets.

The American Roots Ramble is part of “America’s Music Festival Series in Media” which also features the State Street Blues Stroll which takes place in June, and the Jazz by Night Celebration which takes place in November.

American music continues to be amongst the most popular in the world and there are no signs that this is going to change in the near future. Looking back at and celebrating the roots of that music helps us to understand how the music has grown and changed throughout the years. Besides, roots music is a lot of fun.
