May 30, 2013 by

As with every year for the past 145 years, the Malvern Memorial Parade will take place the weekend after Memorial Day – which is this coming weekend. In recent years, it has been expanded to also include Family Fun Day.

The day of the parade will start off with the 3rd annual Run for Freedom 5K or 1K walk or run at 8:45 AM, and there will also be a half kilometer children’s run. All proceeds raised will go to support the Chester County Hero Fund – Wounded Warrior.

The parade will travel from the Malvern Fire Station to Memorial Park and will begin at 1:30 pm. After that, there will be a memorial service at the Paoli Battlefield and Memorial Grounds.

Other events will include the Community Cake Walk, music from the Chester County Concert Band, food for purchase, games, and children’s activities such as face painting.

Malvern printing companies will likely be called upon to provide services like sign and banner printing for those taking part in the parade.

During the day, Operation Gratitude will be accepting donation of hygiene items for deployed military personnel. Also, the Lions Club will be collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids.

The events will take place on June 2. Registration fees for the 5K are $18 for adults and $13 for students, the 1K is $15 for adults and $10 for students and run for children aged 12 and under is $5. For more information visit the event’s website.
