Leechburg area brides find beautiful dresses and fight cancer too

January 30, 2013 by

Brides-to-be in Leechburg and the surrounding area enjoyed a “twofer” the weekend of January 11 – 12. They were able to find wedding dresses at deep discounts, some up to 85%, and donate to the fight against cancer at the same time, thanks to the “Brides against Breast Cancer” organization. Of every dollar, 71¢ goes directly to fight the disease.

The Brides against Breast Cancer organization is part of The Center for Building Hope, which works with cancer patients, their family members, and caregivers, providing free services, programs, and information to those dealing with the disease. It also puts these people in touch with each other.

The Brides against Breast Cancer tour will stop in Aliquippa, about 60 miles from Leechburg, one of 100 stops planned during 2013. The tour operators bring more than 1,000 gowns with them to each stop.

The dresses come from a variety of sources, including couture gowns, new gowns that are donated by bridal shops across the nation, and gowns that have been given to the organization by past brides. The prices range from $99 to more than $3,500, but most are very reasonable and affordable for nearly every bride. The tour operators brought the gowns to The Fez, located in Aliquippa.

Brides against Breast Cancer could work with local brochure printers to create material advertising the sale and the organization’s mission. The organization could also use poster printing services to create placards to display in Aliquippa, Leechburg, and other communities.
