Yearly run to benefit area children

The Firkin 5K is taking place next month in Lansdale. It is a fundraiser for Variety – The Children’s Charity, and the PennSuburban Chamber of Greater Montgomery.

Fees are $40 per runner and include a goodie bag and T-shirt for the first 200 to register. There is also a one-mile walk for those who cannot run the distance, for which fees are $25. Individual awards will be handed out after the race, and will likely include top male and female and winners in several age divisions.

The race is taking place at Whites Road Park, which will also be the location of the 8th annual Oktoberfest on the same day. Runners are more than welcome to participate after their event. It is presented by the Lansdale Area Fundraising Society. This will be a celebration of German culture. There will be music, German food, lots of beer and dancing.

It is likely that the goodie bag that runners will receive will contain a variety of promotional products, brochures, and moneysaving coupons from Lansdale businesses who have sponsored the event.

The Firkin 5K will take place at Whites Road Park on October 15 beginning at 8:45 am. The Oktoberfest celebration will be held at the park from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. To learn more about the race or the celebration, contact the PennSuburban Chamber of Greater Montgomery at 215-362-9200.
