March 21, 2014 by Lisa
Singer Amy Helm will be performing live in the Chandelier Lobby this evening, as part of F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts’ new concert series.
Helm will be performing many of her own original compositions, as well as blues and traditional gospel. The center might have used brochure and poster printing to share information about this performance to householders in the community and throughout the area.
Amy is the daughter of musical legend Levon Helm and songwriter and singer Libby Titus Fagen. She has a powerhouse voice that can soothe, stir, and excite the audience. A diverse musician, she plays both the drums and the mandolin and has shared the stage with the like of Joan Osborne, Emmylou Harris, and Mavis Staples.
Helm is a founder member of the band Ollabella and performs a number of live scores with other musicians, including Donald Fagen, The Wood Brothers, and Warren Haynes. She often collaborates with both the Dirt Farmer Band and the Levon Helm Band, although she also works steadily on her solo career as well.
